Oliver Goldsmith published in 1766 the story of vicar Primrose, an ordinary person, shepherd of a village that lives surrounded by his family in apparent peace. But this peace is interrupted when the fortune of the man disappears due to the bankruptcy of a person that he had entrusted and for the successive misfortunes that happen to every member of the family. But the vicar is able to overcome all difficulties and in spite of the ironic end, this novel has been read with interest by several generations because Goldsmith's art managed to blend in only one book the diverse topics of the English narrative of those times.
