The overcrowding and congestion inside the walls caused annoyance for all residents within the city walls. Because of that, the walls were breached and people began to build homes in adjacent territories. With the start of the construction outside the walls, new religious and services buildings built in the new residential neighborhoods. We passed alongside the old Greek Market, different mosques and two schools, one is French and the other is Scottish. Some of the houses along our tour were in a state of disrepair but there are signs of change, and along with the old buildings, there are new buildings that have been renovated and tastefully preserved while maintaining the unique authenticity of Old Jaffa.
